A Stromness Winter
Oh sky how you tease us, forever changing our view,
Hoy slipping in and out of sight, don’t hide its beauty from us.
Oh dark how you envelop us, allowing us only moments of light,
Rendering the day over unreasonable early, we crave your farewell.
Oh sea how you tempt us, occasionally calm, so often agitated,
You beg us to come and look, fearful of what you bring.
Oh wind how you torment us, invisible but always there,
Lurking mischievously, we are in awe of your power.
Winter, we hurry for you to depart, then anxiously await your return.
We believe in you, you are glorious.
