From peats to pirates! This week’s films are on the subject of John Gow, the notorious Orkney pirate. In the first of these Tom Muir [Orkney Museum] gives a detailed account of Gow’s exploits, and how his story inspired Sir Walter Scott to pen his novel The Pirate. 

To compliment the talk, Orcadian duo Saltfishforty perform The Ballad of Pirate Gow, continuing our series of online performances by the Between Islands musicians.
